What does 3DOME Malta actually make?
- Custom 3D printed products, designed and manufactured in Mosta. The five categories are head statues and portrait busts, personalised gifts, corporate gifts and branded merchandise, toys and learning products, and supplement and medical storage. Alongside those, 3DOME Malta takes on one-off custom work — replacement parts, prototypes, brackets, mounts and jigs — which is most of what comes through the door.
Do I need a 3D file to get something made?
- No. Most customers of 3DOME Malta have never opened CAD software. A photograph, a sketch, measurements, the broken original, or a clear description are all workable starting points. If you do have a file, send it and we print from it directly, which removes the design cost from the quote.
Can you replace a part that broke or is no longer made?
- Usually, yes, and it is one of the most common requests 3DOME Malta receives. Send the broken original, a photograph with something for scale, or measurements, and we model a replacement from it. Where the original failed because of a design weakness we can reinforce that area rather than faithfully reproducing the flaw.
How much does custom 3D printing cost in Malta?
- It depends far more on design time than on material. At 3DOME Malta small personalised items such as keyrings and name pieces typically cost between €10 and €35. Larger keepsakes needing modelling from an image usually fall between €45 and €120, and a desk-sized portrait bust between €90 and €180. Larger pieces, bulk runs and specialist finishes are quoted per project, and the price is fixed before anything is printed.
How long does a custom piece take?
- Simple items are often ready within two to four working days at 3DOME Malta. Anything needing modelling from a photograph or sketch takes about a week, and portrait busts one to two weeks — most of which is design and your approval rather than printing. Tell us the date you need it by when you enquire and you will get a straight answer on whether it is achievable before the order is taken.
Is there a minimum order?
- No. A single piece for a single person is a normal job at 3DOME Malta, not an exception. Because 3D printing involves no moulds or tooling, there is no setup cost to spread across a run — one costs the same per unit as one of ten. Larger quantities do get cheaper per unit, but through batching and shared design time rather than tooling.
Where are you based, and do you deliver?
- 3DOME Malta is at 80, Fortress Street, Mosta MST 1885 — a few streets from the Rotunda the company is named after. Collection from the studio can be arranged, and we deliver across Malta and Gozo. Everything is designed and printed here rather than imported, which is why lead times are days rather than the weeks an overseas supplier needs.
